There seems to be a growing trend on social media where people are building huge followings by telling us who and what we should and shouldn’t trust.
Apparently, according to some, the people “calling out” governments, media, pharmaceutical companies, or certain narratives are actually “planted” themselves. We’re told they only pretend to oppose these systems in order to gain our trust, whilst secretly working for, or profiting from, the very things they claim to expose.
But what I find a little ironic is this…
The people that are now warning us not to trust “those people”, still expect us to trust them! just the same as “those people” once did.
It becomes an endless cycle of “don’t listen to them, listen to me,” or “don’t trust them, trust my version instead.”
And at some point, it starts to feel less like sharing information, and more like social media paranoia presented as enlightenment.
Questioning things can be healthy, and so can thinking for yourself.
But constantly being told that everyone and everything is secretly controlled, planted, compromised, or deceptive can eventually leave people unable to trust anyone or anything at all.
That can then create a society that feels overwhelmed, anxious, and fearful, rather than informed or empowered, which I imagine is what many of these people truly believe they are trying to achieve.
And maybe part of the bigger picture is also asking who really benefits.
Who stands to gain financially, emotionally, socially, or through influence from keeping people in a constant state of fear, suspicion, and distrust?
Because fear can spread very quickly online, and unfortunately, it also attracts attention, engagement, followers, and profit.
Maybe real clarity doesn’t come from blindly trusting every voice that claims to “know the truth,” whether mainstream or alternative.
Maybe it comes from being able to step back, think calmly, and accept that not everything needs to become a conspiracy about who is secretly working for whom.
And maybe people who want to “call things out” also need to consider the impact some of their posts might have on those who are already feeling vulnerable, overwhelmed, and fearful of the world we seem to be living in right now.
Maybe before we post, we should all ask ourselves…
“Am I sharing this from a place of genuine care and awareness…
or from ego, a desire for attention, and the need to be seen as right?”
Sometimes peace of mind doesn’t come from “knowing all the answers,” but from learning when to step back from all the noise for the sake of your mental wellbeing.
With warmth, love and light xx

Hi Liz a very informative and well written piece.
