Most days I find myself moving through the same patterns, almost on autopilot. The same responses, the same routines, the same habits, the same quiet acceptance of things that actually no longer feel right or aligned. And recently I’ve been reminded of that once familiar saying…
“If you always do what you’ve always done…
you’ll always get what you’ve always got.”
It’s simple, yet it holds a lot of truth.
Lately, it feels like something is shifting, not just for me, but for many people around me too. There’s this underlying restlessness, a sense that what used to feel “fine” no longer fits in the same way. I’ve noticed how conversations are changing. People are questioning things they might once have ignored or just accepted. And there also seems to be a growing awareness that staying the same is, in itself, a choice…
We can either choose to embrace change, or choose to live in a repetitive loop, always doing what we’ve always done.
And I think that’s the part that can feel both uncomfortable and yet necessary … realising that if we really want something to change, even in a small way, then something about us really has to change too.
Not necessarily in a dramatic, life altering way, but maybe within the decisions and choices we make for ourselves each day. Choosing to speak up when we would usually stay silent, trying a different approach instead of the familiar one, or letting go of something that no longer feels right, or we know has been holding us back.
It’s not always easy. Familiar patterns can feel safe, even when they are limiting. But staying where we are, just because, can keep us stuck in cycles we’ve already outgrown.
And it seems more and more people are starting to feel that. That gentle nudge, or sometimes stronger push, towards change and doing things differently. Towards wanting more, or needing something different.
And real change doesn’t happen by accident.
It happens in the moments that you decide you’re not going to keep doing the things that no longer work for you.
You don’t need to have everything figured out, and you don’t need to have a perfect plan, but you do need to choose, even if you’re not completely sure where it’ll lead.
With warmth, love and light
