There’s a space many of us find ourselves in from time to time, even if we don’t always talk about it.
Standing at a crossroads in life… not always a big obvious one, but often a quiet, internal one.
Where something is pulling you in a certain direction, whilst at the same time, something is holding you back.
And in that space, the “what ifs” can take hold.
What if it goes wrong?
What if I regret it?
What if this isn’t the right decision?
What if this feeling I have… isn’t something I can really trust?
So instead of moving, we pause. We think… and then we overthink.
Trying to figure it all out.
We look for signs, for reassurance, for something that feels like proof that we’re about to make the “right” choice.
Because somewhere along the way, many of us have learned that we shouldn’t act unless we’re completely sure, unless we have enough evidence, unless it all makes perfect sense, or we can somehow guarantee the outcome.
But life doesn’t really work like that.
And clarity doesn’t always come before the step… sometimes it comes because of it.
And the longer we sit in the “what ifs,” the louder they tend to become.
They might sound like logic. They can feel responsible and sensible.
But often, the “what ifs” can come from a place that’s trying to keep things the same…
trying to keep things safe…
trying to keep us from stepping into something unknown.
And when that happens, it becomes harder and harder to hear anything else
The truth is, what we feel in those moments isn’t always clear or easy to untangle.
Doubt, hesitation, and overthinking can all exist in the same space as wanting or needing more, and quite often does.
And wanting to move forward doesn’t mean you won’t feel afraid.
And feeling afraid doesn’t mean it’s the wrong direction.
So maybe it’s less about finding complete certainty, and more about learning to trust yourself again within the uncertainty.
To take a small step, even while questions still exist.
To allow things to unfold, rather than needing to predict them.
Because staying still doesn’t always keep us safe… sometimes it just keeps us stuck.
So if you’re there right now, standing at a crossroads, trust that you don’t need all the answers to begin.
You just need enough trust in yourself to take the first step… and then the next one after that.
With warmth, love and light
